ABOUT ME
I’m Amber Schumacher, a graduate student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Grand Canyon University. I bring a warm, grounded, and practical approach to my work and a desire to help people feel heard and seen, recognize their strengths, and move toward meaningful change.
My path to counseling has been shaped by 15 years of involvement in women’s ministry, alongside my work in education, youth coaching, and life coaching. These experiences gave me a love and appreciation for people’s stories, the challenges they carry, and the importance of supportive relationships. As a wife and mother, I also value the everyday experiences that shape how we understand ourselves and connect with others.
My developing counseling approach is rooted in person-centered care, with an interest in cognitive behavioral and solution-focused approaches. I value building trust, exploring patterns with curiosity, and working collaboratively toward goals that matter to each client. My faith shapes my commitment to compassion and service, while I respect each client’s beliefs, values, and individual journey.
Through my clinical training at Emergency Responders Health Clinic in Spokane, Washington and I am developing my understanding of first responders and their families. My professional interests also include adolescents and parents of neurodiverse children. I am committed to continued learning and providing thoughtful support that honors each person’s experiences, strengths, and pace.
Outside of my professional work, I enjoy spending time with my family, running, gardening, and caring for our animals. These parts of my life help me stay grounded and connected to what matters most.
